Mexico&#8230; she only spoke in Spanish but took english lessons by tape&#8230; she used only public transportation&#8230; she gave to every charity and formed the women&#8217;s group at her local church which she also helped build in Atwater Village&#8230; She raised a son and a daughter alone after her husband died early in their marriage and after helped raise her three grand daughters&#8230; She owned a neighborhood market, a carneceria, a restaurant, she was a skilled seamstress and owned multiple properties which she would rent below market value so people had a place to call home.  This woman was my great grandmother.  She influenced my family in ways she will never know &#8230; I am so grateful and blessed to continue to be influenced by all the women around me to be a strong, independent, fearless, and loving woman.  Happy International Women&#8217;s Day to
